Looking back at 2005...
Cosmos is pleased to see that 2005 has been a very successful year. Numerous container terminals around the world have selected the Cosmos applications to support their operations:
-
MSC has signed a global agreement with Cosmos. The first result is that the Home Terminal in Antwerp (Belgium) and the Fangos Terminal in Valencia (Spain) currently under construction are implementing the Cosmos solutions.
-
Cosmos also concluded a global agreement with Finnsteve for the further implementation of the Cosmos systems at their terminals, with the terminal in Kotka (Finland) being the first to be equipped.
-
Another new Cosmos customer is Voltri Terminal Europe in Genoa (Italy), where the full application suite will be installed.
-
Other long-standing customers have reconfirmed their confidence in Cosmos by implementing the software at other facilities operated by them or by implementing additional Cosmos modules. Both HNN and P&O Ports implemented the software at their new Deurganckdock facilities in Antwerp (Belgium), GMP at the new Terminal de France at Port 2000 in Le Havre (France) and SAPO with the Pier 1 facility in Durban (South Africa). The Port Authority of Jamaica started using some new modules as well as APM Rotterdam (The Netherlands), HNN Antwerp (Belgium), MCT Gioia Tauro (Italy), ...
-
2005 was also the year in which the Port Community System Harbour View was implemented at the Port Autonome de Cotonou (Benin).
... and towards a successful 2006
After a very rewarding 2005, 2006 has started very promising as well:
-
Cornelder de Beira is going to implement the Cosmos solutions for its container terminal facility in Mozambique.
-
The Tanzania Ports Authority selected Harbour View as its Port Management and Community System.
-
The PSA Sines terminal in Portugal is also commencing the implementation of the Cosmos software.
In 2006 Cosmos will also put a special focus on the North American market, where Cosmos wants to acquire a market share, increasing its worldwide footprint. The first commercial actions took place in early April. They will be followed by new actions during the months to come resulting in a prototype implementation.
Cosmos products TOM and BAS now available for installation
After an indepth evaluation of the original concepts, and thorough testing in a fully operational environment, the new Terminal Operations Monitor TOM and Berth Allocation System BAS, are available for installation.
TOM puts you in the driver's seat of your terminal, giving you real time information about the productivity of your terminal and of all equipment.
BAS allows you to efficiently plan vessels to their ideal mooring position at the quay wall and to visualise the occupation of the berths and quay cranes in time and place.
Open Training Classes and Certification
On a regular basis Cosmos organises Open Training Classes for each of its applications. These Open Training Classes allow customers to send just a few people, who are either new users of the system, in case of a basic training or more experienced users looking to follow the advanced courses.
Upon completion of the course, each participant is invited to take an examination. When successful, the participant receives an official Cosmos certificate.
Recently these training courses were organised in Belgium, Malaysia and Brazil. The program for the upcoming courses can be consulted in the table below.

New Cosmos Website
Keep an eye on www.cosmosworldwide.com. The new Cosmos website will be available shortly. The first and probably the most obvious change is the new layout. Of course we took the chance to thoroughly update all available documentation and information.
In a next phase a specific customer section will be implemented, giving our customers access to relevant information about our applications and access to the support requests.
There will also be a dedicated section for the Cosmos technology partners. These partners provide tools, both hardware and software, that are complementary to the Cosmos software solutions.
