Off-the-shelf Version of CTCS for Hesse-Noord Natie
Since their initial CTCS installation in 1993, HNN opted for many years to keep a ‘haute couture’ or tailor-made system to manage its operations. In 2005 Hesse-Noord Natie (HNN) decided to replace its dedicated version of CTCS with CTCS version 5.3, the most recent and most performing off-the-shelf available version today.
The switchover to the available off-the-shelf commercial version, which is also implemented on all terminals of other Cosmos customers around the world, brings significant benefits to both HNN and the rest of the Cosmos community:
-
the worldwide acquired Cosmos expertise, consolidated in the commercial version, is now also available for HNN
-
the HNN specific functionalities become available to the entire Cosmos community.
The implications from a Cosmos development perspective are also very significant. Since no separate version of CTCS needs to be maintained for HNN, more time is freed up for R&D and customer specific changes, enriching the Cosmos application suite even further. This again to the benefit of all Cosmos customers worldwide.
The upgrade of the old CTCS system to the latest version was managed by Cosmos, together with the expert IT team of HNN, in less than a shift. In this short time frame the complete conversion cycle took place, including database conversion. An achievement that both involved parties are rightfully proud of!
Cosmos AGS – The Automatic Gate System
Cosmos developed AGS to reduce the global costs of gate operations, to achieve higher operational efficiency and to enhance productivity and increase profits.
AGS is the interfacing application between the GOS (Gate Operating System) of the client (such as solutions provided by Cosmos Certified Technology Partners Camco, Dalosy and Visy) and the TOS (Terminal Operating Software) of Cosmos. The GOS gathers truck and container data from administrative and physical checks and transmits all relevant data to the TOS. Based on the received information the TOS will perform the necessary validations, trigger respective processes to plan or pick up containers and generate the related moves.
The TOS performs the following actions:
-
receive truck and container data from the GOS
-
create truck calls
-
administrative check of received containers
-
register bundles
-
physical check of received containers
-
create moves
-
return result to the GOS (optionally enhanced with customs document information)
AGS is already successfully implemented at APM (Rotterdam), GMP (Le Havre) and Uniport (Rotterdam).

Open Training Classes and Certification
Cosmos organises Open Training Classes for each of its applications on a regular basis. These Open Training Classes allow customers to send just a few people, who are either new users of the system, in case of a basic training or more experienced users looking to follow the advanced courses.
Upon completion of the course, each participant is invited to take an exam. When completed successfully, the participant receives an official Cosmos certificate.
Recently these training courses were organised in Belgium, Malaysia and Brazil. The program for the upcoming courses is as follows:
