SIGNAL for SHIPS is designed to add EDI capabilities to the SHIPS (SHIp Planning System) application. It is a dedicated environment which has been developed to incorporate the EDI principles.
It is designed to introduce a high level of automation into the transmission of vessel information. The human interventions are kept to a strict minimum by the use of a number of predefined settings.
The SIGNAL for SHIPS application handles vessel information structured in bayplans and prestow messages. The bayplan and movins messages are tailored to the needs of the maritime container trading industry and guarantee structured interchanging.
In SIGNAL for SHIPS we support the EDIFACT format. This format has become the interchange standard for many different industries and has a widespread acceptance throughout the maritime industry.
