Signal 5.0 enables the fully automatic transmission and reception of EDI messages all over the world. It is the latest version of the familiar Cosmos EDI software, which has been used by many of our customers for several years.
SIGNAL allows you to automatically interchange electronic messages with the computer systems of your customers, business partners and government organizations. SIGNAL is fully compatible with the latest standards, such as UN/EDIFACT, ANSI X.12 and XML.
Furthermore, a variety of private formats can be supported when no universal standard is available for certain business requirements. SIGNAL can receive and transmit messages via a variety of gateways, including file and database gateways, e-mail, FTP, MQSeries and more.

Monitor
The SIGNAL Monitor provides a real-time view of all active interchanges, messages, bundles and transmissions.
The Monitor only shows a list of messages currently being handled, including the messages or interchanges in error. Individual messages can be viewed, edited and resubmitted when required.
Extensive filter functionalities enable you to quickly display all items related to a selected message. The filter composer allows you to customize the filter settings, making it easier to show only those data you need to see.
Standard translator
SIGNAL can define any UN/EDIFACT message (e.g. COARRI, CODECO, COPRAR, COPARN,…). The maritime standards such as SMDG messages and local standard messages can easily be managed by SIGNAL.
When a message is processed, it is analyzed and the underlying structure is recognized. During the translation the contents of every element in the message is mapped to a well-defined location in the in-house file and will be applied to the host system.
Archiving
After the successful processing of messages, SIGNAL will transfer them to the Archive database. The details of the messages in the Archive database can be viewed by means of the Archive browser.
SIGNAL is provided with a search functionality to look for specific archived messages according to a variety of search criteria. Even the message contents can be searched.
Configuration
SIGNAL can easily be configured to communicate in different ways with your business partners. For each individual business partner you define the inbound and outbound connections that you will use for the transfer of EDI messages.
Security
Concealing delicate information passing through specific inbound gateways can be done with a few mouseclicks. This largely contributes to the safe transfer of sensitive data, hiding it from unauthorized people.
Technology
SIGNAL runs on a variety of hardware and system software platforms. It has been developed as a client/server application. The client will be Microsoft Windows (NT and 2000) compatible. The server will be suitable for platforms with Java (and ANSI C) support, e.g. OS/400, Windows2000 or Unix.
SIGNAL is seamlessly integrated with the Cosmos suite of software modules for ports and container terminals. Integration with other (third party) software modules is also possible.
